The star has given the full amount of his twenty-five thousand pound Mercury Prize prize money to the trust for venues, which functions to save the UK's independent concert spaces.

Fender was awarded the prize on mid-October as his third album People Watching was chosen as the outstanding release of the past year.

Fender has chosen to give the cash to the trust, in acknowledgment of the crucial part grassroots venues had in his beginning days.

"I personally wouldn't be doing this success if it hadn't been for all the shows I did around the region, and elsewhere, when I was starting out," remarked the artist. "These venues are renowned, but they are in difficulty."

Beginning in 2023, more than 150 of these venues have ceased operations – about 16 percent of the whole industry in the UK.

In the last year, major artists such as Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the trust in its attempts to keep the scene afloat, by including a modest fee to their admission fees, which supports local stages.

He also participated, raising more than £100,000 on his live tour to support numerous small stages across the UK.

The donation helped locations that were confronting imminent closure due to challenges stemming from flooding, fires and family tragedies, as well as regulatory hurdles, legal disputes and sound issues.

Other venues obtained funding support in improving amenities and gear that directly benefitted musicians and fans.

"The notion that revenue from performances in large arenas backs the local stages, where it all starts for artists like me, is just sensible," Fender has commented.

They are one example who donated their honor prize money to charity

He is among several artists to donate his honor funds to charitable organizations.

When they won the prize in the year 1996 for their record their work, frontman Jarvis Cocker announced that the group would donate their winnings to the non-profit War Child.

That year, rapper and singer Ms Dynamite divided her award across several organizations, such as the children's charity and a Sickle Cell organization.

"And I gave a grand to Highgate Newtown, to their gymnastics class, because I did gymnastics when I was growing up and they needed new equipment," the artist told a publication.

Previously, the band contributed their funds to the community center that supported their group, in addition to other local music groups.

Also winners that year they contributed their prize to a charity for MS after a friend was identified with the condition.

"The victory was sufficient," stated singer the singer. "The prize was the extra but we didn't require the cherry, because we had the cake. So our victory affected another person's life."

In the past week, the Music Venues Trust revealed it had protected a couple of grassroots venues in the South East, by transferring them to community ownership.

One venue in the city and the second in Bristol were acquired under the community ownership initiative, which is supported by Arts Council England and supporters who buy "shares" in the properties.
